10. The plural and singular forms of the word “Rendezvous” are spelled the same but pronounced differently. Rendezvous, singular, is pronounced RUN-dei-voo. Plural, the word is pronounced RUN-dei-vooz.

9. The new electronica band, RendezVous, prefers to spell their name with a capital V.

8. RendezVous classifies their music as belonging to the electropop genre, but their songs are also part of the jazz movement.

7. RendezVous music has accomplished the impossible: they brought two opposite styles together. Their music has successfully fused clean, modern electronica with psychedelic retro sound.

6. Although RendezVous songs seem to require at least four musicians, the band is composed of just two members. Itai Simon and Hagai Izenberg are the duo behind RendezVous.

5. Simon and Izenberg are no amateurs; they’ve both taken up music at Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. In fact, that’s where they first met.

4. Hagai Izenberg loves keyboards – both the musical and the computer type. Izenberg first learned to play the piano at seven years of age but also knows his way around computers, having worked in the Internet and software industry for 13 years.

3. Itai Simon is a bass guitarist – but he wasn’t until many years after he first learned to play the guitar. He tinkered with electric guitars at an early age but found his instrument, the bass guitar, only at the age of 17..

2. RendezVous is currently working with music veteran David Bascombe, a well-known figure in the music industry. Bascombe has done mixing and production with band icons Tears for Fears and Depeche Mode. He is teaming up with RendezVous for their first album launch.

1. The jazz electronica band RendezVous already has more than 7000 fans on Facebook even if they haven’t released a single album.. After launching their very first EP, RendezVous earned thousands of fans. Their EP was downloaded countless of times, pushing them to the top of underground band lists. RendezVous now plans to go mainstream, with their debut album in the works. (Who knows how many fans they’ll have by then?)

10. The Dirty Guv’nahs

Composed of six members, this band from Tennessee was formed by accident as a rush opening act for a benefit concert. Their self-titled album, consisting of blues and rock songs, was released last April 2009.

9. Deas Vail

This band’s name means “God’s humble servant”. Their album Birds and Cages was released last October 2009. Their rock songs are slightly reminiscent of Death Cab for Cutie.

8. Passion Pit

Passion Pit is an electronic band from Massuchussetts. The band consists was formed in 2007 and consists of 5 members. Their song, Moth's Wings, has been featured in one of the episodes of the hit TV series Gossip Girl. Their album entitled Manners was released last May 2009.

7. Wild Beasts

Wild Beasts is a rock band from England. They released their album Two Dancers under Domino Records last August 2009. Their songs feature an unorthodox style and showcase the lead singer’s falsetto voice, distinguishing them from the rest of the pack.

This American band first wound up together after meeting in school, starting on their work at an early age. They released their album Merriweather Post Pavilion last January 2009.

This independent rock band from New York just released their debut album, Why There Are Mountains, within the year (2009). They were dubbed the year’s number one album by The Daily Cardinal.

Camera Obscura is a Scottish band. Their album entitled My Maudlin Career was released last April 2009. Their album songs are dubbed “infectious pop”, making it to the list of must-have new Indie albums in Amazon.com.

The Swipes is a German band who prefers to be classified under the genre “New Garage”. Their influences include garage punk and protopunk. This indie band has been consistently at the top of UK’s major music website, www.somojo.net.

A band first formed in London, White Lies plays alternative rock music. The band consists of 3 members but plays with an additional keyboardist for live performances. They have a contract with Fiction Records and have released several singles such as Death and Unfinished Business, rightfully earning their place in this top ten new bands list.

 Rendezvous is an electropop band composed of Itai Simon and Hagai Izenberg. Their electronica songs show a strong touch of acid jazz, promising a “clean chaos” of instrumental music. After the release of their first EP, Rendezvous gained a fiercely loyal cult following, earning more than 7000 fans on Facebook. Rendezvous is now working with producer/ mixer Dave Bascombe, who has done incredible work with the famous bands Tears for Fears and Depeche Mode. Having proven their worth in the world of music, Rendezvous is the band to watch out for in 2010.
